Lavern & Shirley wallpaper the Homestead - Page 2
It was at this point that Jackie figured she
could find a job by Monday so she wouldn't have to come back.
Not having put piece one of wallpaper up as yet, we decided that
Jackie would start to wallpaper while I looked for another answer
to the hole that was now 10 x 15 inches. We had also decided that
the rest of the wallpaper seemed firmly enough attached to the
wall to leave up and paper over. I poked around in the cellar
and found a smallish piece of 1/4 inch plywood and cut a piece
of that. I won't even mention the several different saws I used
as I wasn't sure which to use and none seemed to do the job really
well (or maybe, just maybe, it was me). When I came up the stairs,
Jackie was trying to get around the motion sensor box with the
wallpaper and making "tttcchh" noises. "The color's
bleeding through. I'm sure of it." She decided to let that
piece dry thoroughly to see how it looked, and she ate another
bowl of Kix while I hammered the board into place
and taped and spackled it.
Being the sort who know when to quit while we are somewhat
ahead, we started cleaning up and it was at this point that Dad
came home from the Tea Garden.
Even dry the paper looks like some of the color in the old
wallpaper is discoloring the new paper, and the spackle also seemed
to be pulling color through it.
